National days
The Central Market Hall provides space for the famous National Days program series, which was created by the Hall and Market Management of the Municipality of Budapest 15 years ago. The main target of the event was to promote the market as a tourist attraction, but over the years we recognized that it is a really significant cultural program, too. The program usually runs from spring to late autumn and attracts a lot of visitors.
It is a good opportunity to introduce the country’s food, handicraft products, clothes and leather goods and represent the nation through music and dance programs or tourist publications, so visitors can learn very easily and directly about the specific characteristics of the country and the cultural values.
Some of the participating countries:
- Japanese Days
- Bulgarian Days
- Transylvanian Days
- Polish Days
- Peruvian Days
- Indian Days
- Portuguese Days
- Croatian Days
- Indonesian Days
- Persian Days
- Moroccan Days
- Tunisian Days
- Egyptian Days
- African Days- Madagascar
Our goals
The National Days role is to transmit cultural values to everyone: tourists, hungarian audience, both little ones and adults. With these programs our aim is to support, promote and maintain respect and openness for foreign cultures in humans. Last but not least, we get respect from other cultures to ours, too.
The program
Within the National Days the participating country’s program series last for three days. The tasting projects and food products are exhibited on the main corridor of the market hall, where every dealer has seperate tables. During the three days the country can represent the national food and drinks, souvenirs, traditional clothes and goods. Furthermore there are dance shows, book presentations and musical performances on the stage we provide for this purpose. Each performance should be 15 minutes long and repeated 3-4 times a day. The programs are usually organized by the Embassy of the country after some consultation with us.
In the Central Market Hall we have on average 40-50 thousand visitors pass every day and the market is a very popular destination amond foreigners. Every year these events has a great attendance, so there are plenty of opportunities for the country. For example: represent the country’s culture, taste traditional food, sell folk art and handicrafts or promote tourist attractions.
We hope that our short presentation will raise your interest and we can cooperate together in the very near future!
